Session 2 Day 7

Rest day!!! (Don’t let the name fool you). We all enjoyed our sleep in until 8:30 waffle breakfast and then hung around the house and town. We managed to leave on time at 11 for our Starbucks and McDonalds run in Portland before crossing into Washington State. We discovered new refresher flavors, and that Hans M. likes to dip fries in his frosty??? Once we got to rafting the guides gave us a great presentation on wetsuits and safety. We got to choose our style of wetsuit and booties, and then had the option of a jacket. We went six skiers to a boat and did some wheelies, and a bullride on the front of the boat. Our guide Grantis took us to a mini cliff spot for some jumps, and we watched a few professional snowboarders backflip off of it! Rob and JP got some great footage of Jenna, Kate and I all “going swimming” (we were pushed in). For dinner we stopped at Pedro’s pizza for some of the best I’ve ever had. We had cheese, veggie, and hawaiian (weird choice). On the way back to Govy, Sean played us his German rap and it was so much fun to listen to. The rest of the night consisted of Lego Batman, Euchre, spikeball, and ski tuning. We have our second-first day of slalom tomorrow and we’re getting an overnight freeze!!

"My daughter has skied with JP nearly her entire racing career, since she was a pre-teen. He is an exceptional ski coach, and an outstanding human being. Everything he does is at the highest level, and with the most attention to detail. JP’s experience in delivering high level race camps translates beautifully to his youth ski program. The athletes need only spend a week on the hill with him to see their personal ski goals met. The best part is that JP‘s heart is in everything he does, and he takes care of the athletes as if they were his own. His word is gold. Just like his coaching. We think the world of him."
